1- What is Cyberjank if you had to describe it in one sentence?
It is the crossroad where Meme and Machine meet to form a musical Onslaught of Madness.
2- Where did the idea for this album come from? Was this music you both have always wanted to create?
It started off as a joke. We have a habit of not taking anything too seriously. So when Dr. Sektor said to Mr. D, "Hey let's make Cyber Cthulhu!", Mr. D said, "Why, God, Why?!?" and then we did it anyway. We both have always wanted to make music. We didn't necessarily set out to create Cyberjank. Cyberjank isn't something you seek, it just finds you...
3- Was there anything that influenced you guys while you were making this album? A movie, song or current event at the time?
During the year that it took to create Cyberjank Dr. Sektor repeatedly subjected Mr. D to Jonathan Young's cover of the Powerline (A Goofy Movie) song "Eye to Eye" on repeat, until he completely lost it, thus breaking the bonds of sanity and allowing for the creation of Cyberjank.
4- Do you each have a favorite track on the album or multiple favorites? What are they?
Dr. Sektor - "Laser Eyes, Diamond Hands, Bitcoin Heart" is my favorite because it has literally no right to be as good as it is, but it is. (But in all honesty, it is super meta and has a lot of hidden messages and inside jokes.)
Mr. D - "Sweatin' With Mr. D." Is my favorite because of the breakdown and how hard it slaps. (I can tell it's a Photoshop because of the pixels and from seeing many Photoshops in my day...)
5- This was your first album released as Warpsektor. What was the feeling like for each of you once it was completed and you saw it on the Internet?
Dr. Sektor - "It was a pretty surreal experience for me, being my first time recording an album. The release party we did with FaithInTheGlitch on his Twitch channel with hundreds of people freaking out over our music was amazing. Still haven't come down from that night."
Mr. D- "Oh God, I shouldn't have done this. Maybe we could try again! Next time with actual songs!"
6- Did all the ships really sink in the end?
They are still sinking...
7- Do you have plans for a new album? Any dates or timeframe for some new music?
We have already made a ton of new music since the release of Cyberjank. The follow-up album "Dr. Sektor & Mr. D" is currently in the works and will hit heavier and harder than its predecessor. We want to tell the story of our split personality through a dual LP, each side showcasing a piece of each of our own psyche. This will likely be released after the first of the year.
We do have a collaboration track we did with our friend Nanoverse that will be releasing in late November.
Until then you can find a vast majority of our Work in Progress tracks on our Soundcloud.
Michael Anthony: Since I started listening to this album a few weeks ago, I have been going back to it everyday. This has an awesome mix of multiple genres that flow together very well. The sixth question in this interview is in regards to the track "Laser Eyes, Diamond Hands, Bitcoin Heart." (NSFW) Check it out and try not to listen more than once.
This album starts out rocking with the first track called "Cyber Hell." When you get to the last track "Sweatin' With Mr. D" I'm sure you'll be smiling and bobbing your head to the beat.
I'm glad to have picked up this album and will be checking out anything that Warpsektor comes out with in the future. Check out their album on Bandcamp below.
