The Welsh retro electro act’s collab with Canada’s legendary Phoenix dazzles with upbeat feelgood and flair.
On February 4, electro and synth pop producer duo Taurus 1984 return with their first music of 2022, a single entitled “Dreamin” from their upcoming album, via Outland Recordings, one of the world’s leading synth and retrowave music companies.
“Dreamin” sets Taurus 1984 in their breeziest form to date. Sweetly toned vocals from Bandcamp-certified and Spotify-playlisted Dana Jean Phoenix, along with dreamy keys and soaring sax, evoke eighties nineties beach movies, sun kissed summer days, and perfect beach dates.
The song is also gloriously complimented with a music video edited by Taurus 1984’s Alastair Jenkins, as well as a deep house nu disco remix by Final Djs.
NewRetroWave singer and producer Michael Oakley continues with his skilled touch as producer, the relationship of which is set to continue throughout the full album’s production.
Phoenix says, “Dreamin’ describes a pivotal chance encounter with someone that makes you feel immediately safe and understood. A sense of such familiarity, you question whether you’ve met them before. Past bruises may cause one to question at first if it’s too good to be true, but to ultimately feel empowered to open up to the reality that this could be every bit as blissful as the sweetest dream. There’s courage in loving someone incredible and letting them love you back.”
Taurus 1984’s Jenkins continues of the experience, “Working on Dreamin' with DJP was, excuse the pun, a dream. We had so much fun with the collaborative creative process together. This is the first track that I've not written lyrics and melody for and was over the moon when Dana was excited to be involved in the writing process. She crafted lyrics and melodies which completely took the track to another level for us, from the first draft that Dana sent we instantly vibed with it, she is such a skilled professional who just got the vibe and brought so much to the table. We had been discussing collaborating for a few months and instantly clicked over musical tastes. Dana also sings on another track on the album, a reprise of our next single Rosebud which we look forward to sharing with you on release of Modern Romance.”
Taurus 1984 release their third album Modern Romance through Outland Recordings in Spring 2022 with more singles already lined up for release through the Winter.
