Let's Get To Know Lucy Dreams

Lucy Dreams is a dreampop trio hailing from the cultural metropolis Vienna and consists of David Reiterer and Philipp Prückl.

Wait, trio? That is correct, because the essence of this band arises from a crystal ball that is seemingly enthroned above all their output - the artificial bandmember Lucy. Recently, they have signed with Aztec Records. Here is an interview with David.

Where did you grow up?

On the Austrian countryside, in an area where the mountains meet the lowlands. We were lucky to have a skatepark and a radio station in our small town, giving us the opportunity to develop identities with strong ties to youth culture, especially music.

What is one of the first songs you remember liking as a kid?

Deftones’ "Change" was a revelation. When I first heard this song, it opened a whole new world to me. They have been one of my favorite bands ever since.

What influenced you to get into music?

A strong urge to rebel, the passion in creating and a desire to express My whole identity revolves around music. At what age did you start playing/singing?

15… When I first touched a guitar and the guitar then touched me. If you could go back in time, what advice would you give to yourself after finishing school?

Embrace the future! What are some of your favorite songs at the moment?

Winter Roads by Jan Blomqvist I Don’t Live Here Anymore by The War On Drugs feat. Lucius Skin of the Night by M83 Do you listen to your own music?

Going back to your older songs after some years is a pretty exciting time travel. Which musician would you like to collaborate with next?

Up front, collaborations are super important, especially if they are cross-disciplinary. In the past we had the honor to collaborate with Viennese design artist Esther Stocker or California based visual wizards Not Any Design Collective. In the future we’d love to collaborate with somebody who shares this approach. What is one of your favorite memories so far in your music career?

The moment we realized that our artificial band member Lucy has created a life of its own. What advice would you give to someone that is just starting to get into music?

Stick to what you yourself think is great and sounds good.
