1- Where did you grow up?
Kopavogur, a town just outside of Reykjavik in Iceland.
2- What is one of the first songs you remember liking as a kid?
To be completely honest, Barbie Girl by Aqua.
3- What influenced you to get into music?
This will have been back in 2008 when I’d been listening to a lot of Deadmau5. I remember thinking how much I wanted to make EXACTLY that kind of music, so I tried. It sounded awful so I gave up for a couple of years, but then came back and stuck with it that time! Looking back, I really wish I had some of those originals I made in 2008
4- At what age did you start playing/singing?
During my early years I didn’t actually play any instruments and relied on midi only. Maybe that’s why my music wasn’t great haha (definitely not though, you can easily make a 100% certified banger with just midi). But I think I was around 19/20 when I started playing the piano, although I never really learned it fully. The saxophone I picked up 4 years ago, at 24.
5- If you could go back in time, what advice would you give to yourself after finishing school?
The world is a whole lot bigger than Iceland.
6- What are some of your favorite songs at the moment?
I LOVE me some Scandinavian synthpop and I'm pretty much obsessed with anything by Sigrid, Dagny and Hanne Mjøen. Perfect Paradise by Bunny X and Don Dellpiero is also very high on my list of favorites at the moment.
7- Do you listen to your own music?
About 3000 times during the production process, 3000 times during mixing and then another 1000 when mastering. And yeah, then a few times once it’s out, once I’m done being sick of it and can actually enjoy it again.
8- Which musician would you like to collaborate with next?
So many! Essy, Dagny, Parallels, Emma Jensen, PRIZM.. the list goes on really! But I’m also lucky enough to be working on a few collabs with some of my favorite artists in the retrowave realm.
9- What is one of your favorite memories so far in your music career?
I’ve got some incredible memories from live performances and stuff like that but my mind always goes to writing and creating with Siri Linn; those have been some truly excellent times.
10- What advice would you give to someone that is just starting to get into music?
Do you and don’t chase the trends. The day you start worrying about having to make music you think people will like is the day you stop enjoying the process. Don’t get caught up in comparing yourself to other artists and just remember that you will get your moment as long as you stay true to yourself.
